In Japan, zazen is recognized as mental training regardless of religion or sect. It is a Buddhist mental training method in which you sit in a correct posture and face yourself by unifying your mind. Its’ original significance lies in “quietly reexamining one’s own heart”. Zazen can be practiced in everyday life, but it is more effective when practiced in a quiet place such as a temple. It has a very long history and is said to have started with the training of Buddha, the founder of Buddhism.
